St. Edmunds Newsletter – June 2026
June is a special time in our school community as we celebrate a year filled with learning, growth, friendship, and faith. It has been wonderful to see our students continue to develop their talents, strengthen their relationships, and share their gifts with others throughout the year.
We are sincerely grateful to our families for your ongoing support and partnership in the education of your children. Your encouragement and involvement help make St. Edmund’s such a caring and vibrant community. A heartfelt thank you also goes to our dedicated staff for their enthusiasm, professionalism, and commitment to providing meaningful learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
The final weeks of school will be filled with many exciting activities and celebrations, including CISVA Track and Field Finals, Sports Day, Year-End BBQ, and our Grade 7 Farewell. These events provide wonderful opportunities for our students to celebrate their accomplishments and enjoy time together as a community.
To our Grade Seven students and all families leaving St. Edmund’s School, we wish you every happiness and success in the years ahead. May the Christian values you have nurtured here continue to guide you and positively impact those around you.
We are also excited to welcome our new Kindergarten students and new families to St. Edmund’s. We look forward to having you join our school community and becoming part of the many traditions that make our school so special.

Congratulations and Gratitude
Sacramental Program – Congratulations to our school and PREP Communicants on receiving their First Holy Communion last month. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our staff and parent volunteers for their continued support in preparing the children, organizing and hosting receptions, decorating the church and hall, and capturing these special moments in photos.
A special thank you to Save-On-Foods for generously donating the beautiful cake. We would also like to recognize our PAC, especially the Kindergarten and Grade 3 class parents, for hosting a wonderful reception for our Communion class.
Arts Program – Thank you to our staff and intermediate students for an incredible Spring Concert and Arts Festival. We hope everyone enjoyed the amazing performances and artistic displays. We are also extremely proud of our school choir for their dedication and hard work throughout the year, culminating in their participation at the North Shore Schools Choir Festival at STA.
Track & Field – Our Tbirds continue to demonstrate outstanding team spirit and commitment throughout this year’s Track & Field season. Our athletes have dedicated many mornings and lunch hours to practices, and we are very proud of their efforts at the St. Helen’s and Holy Cross Track Meets. Please keep our athletes in your prayers as they participate in the CISVA Finals on May 26, 27, and June 3 at Swangard Stadium. Thank you to all our coaches and parent drivers for supporting our team!
Grade 7 Outdoor School
The grade 7s had an amazing opportuntiy at Camp Squeah to to learn new skills and challenge themselves to try new activities such as the climbing wall, high ropes and archery as well as making delicious pizza from scratch.
Spring Concert and Arts Festival
Many thanks to Ms. Maryna, the staff and students for all their efforts in sharing their talents in a successful festival! We were also excited to have our school choir shine alongside the other North Shore schools at the STA Choral Festival. Bravo!
Uniform Reminders & Updates
- Cambridge Uniforms: Order by June 15th – We recognize that uniforms may be furthest from mind. However, our provider, Cambridge Uniforms asks that your back-to-school order be placed by June 15th to ensure delivery during the month of August. Please visit their website cambridgeuniforms.com, create an account if you don’t already have one.
- Nail polish, coloutful hairbands/accessories are not a part of the school uniform.
- On dress down days students are expected to dress modestly. Crop tops and “spaghetti” strap tops are not to be worn. For safety reasons, all footwear must have back straps (no flipflops).
- Our Lost & Found is filling quickly. Please ensure all articles of clothing are labelled with your child’s name.
St. Edmund’s Parent Groups:
Parish Education Committee (PEC) Elections Update – For the 2026/27 school year we are happy to welcome Mr. Jeff Wallace who was elected by acclamation. We are deeply grateful to our PEC members for for their leadership and support of our school community. Special thanks to outgoing members:

Parent Support Group (PSG) Update – We are grateful to Ms. Nereida Morales, Ms. Rowena Patel and Ms. Angela Santoro for continuing their service on the PSG. The PSG serves as an important liaison between the school and the B.C. Gaming Commission, helping oversee funding application and expenditures that benefit our students. This year PSG funding helped support transportation costs for student field trips.
Upcoming Events & Reminders:
CISVA Track Meet – May 27 & June 3 at Swangard Stadium, Burnaby
Please refer to the Track and Field notices/emails from Mr. Dotto for details. Please make sure students are dressed for the weather and have healthy snacks, lunch, water and sunscreen packed for the full day events.
“Bike” to School Month – We are encouraging students and families to use active transportation for their trips to school all month! Walking, biking, or scootering helps reduce congestion in our neighbourhood and helps students arrive at school energized and ready to learn. You can “park your wheels” at our bike rack. Please remember to wear your helmets!
City of North Vancouver Parking Guidelines & St. Edmund’s Safe & Active Routes to School. We ask everyone to follow all the posted “no parking” and “no stopping” signage around the school.
School & Class Library Books – Please return all library & class books by Thursday June 4th so that we are able to complete our inventory. Any misplaced or lost books will need to be paid for by the students/parents. Thank you for your co-operation.
Professional Day June 8th No School – There will be a Professional Development Day for our staff.
There will be no school for students on this day.
Sports Day Friday June 12th: The annual Sports Day organized by our grade 7 class will take place on Friday June 12th. Dismissal will be at 12:00 pm and all students will receive a “freezie” from our wonderful PAC! Students are expected to wear their team colours and be ready for the weather conditions. (Bring a track suit or sweatpants in case of colder weather; a hat and sunscreen for warmer weather.)
Year End BBQ Friday June 12th
Our PAC and the Grade 7 & 4 classes invite you to our End of Year BBQ on Friday, June 12 (5:00pm-7:00pm). Pre-paid BBQ orders Were due on May 29th. We look forward to celebrating the great year we’ve had at St. Eds!
Grade 7 Farewell Evening – We will celebrate our Grade 7 students and their varied accomplishments on Tuesday, June 23th at 7 pm. Further details will be shared soon. We are proud of our St. Edmund’s Class of 2026 and ask that you continue to keep them in your prayers as they begin the next chapter of their educational journey.
Last Day of School – The last day of school for students is Thursday, June 25th. We will have a whole school Mass at 9:00 am during which our Grade 7s will pass on the light of leadership to our Grade 6 class. Following classroom activities, report cards will be distributed and dismissal will be at 12:00 pm.
Praying for all Fathers:
We give our thanks, Creator God, for the fathers in our lives.
Fatherhood does not come with a manual, and reality teaches us that some fathers excel while others fail.
We ask for Your blessings for them all and forgiveness where it is needed.
This Father’s Day we remember the many sacrifices fathers make for their children and families, and the ways–both big and small–they lift children to achieve dreams thought beyond reach.
So too, we remember all those who have helped fill the void when fathers pass early or are absent; grandfathers and uncles, brothers and cousins, teachers, pastors and coaches and the women of our families.
For those who are fathers, we ask for wisdom and humility in the face of the task of parenting. Give them the strength to do well by their children and by You.
