At St. Edmund’s Elementary, parents are involved in every aspect of school life, even at the governance level. Parent involvement is directed and organized by four major committees. The school is always looking for parents who are willing to make a leadership contribution, so please consider getting involved in one of the committees below. You can click on the link below each description to learn more about each committee, as well as access their meeting minutes.
The PEC, or Parish Education Committee is the committee most involved in the leadership of the school. The Parish Education Committee, along with the Pastor and Principal, form the “Three Legged Stool” of school leadership. The PEC is responsible for endorsing school hires, overseeing the school budget, and approving school policies.
The PAC, or Parent’s Association, is also commonly called the “class parents”. This committee is the one that works most closely with teachers and students. They help the school get important information out to parents, organize our class events, and help run various fundraisers. Not much goes on without the class moms being involved!
The PPC, or Parent Participation Committee, is responsible for organizing the participation jobs for all parents. Recently, there have been a number of changes to the program, including an online site for parents to monitor their hours. For a complete list of jobs, please refer to our Parent Participation Manual, or the Quick Reference Guide
The EPC, or Emergency Preparedness Committee, has done a considerable amount of work to help our school prepare for a large-scale disaster. The committee organizes and re-stocks our emergency supplies at the beginning of the year. In the second half of the year, the committee assists with our mock “emergency release”.
